London's best review, food and drink news
The Sun's idyllic position across the road from Barnes's duck pond and village green, along with its sun-kissed front terrace, would be enough to bring in the crowds, but there's more. There are three real ales and Weston's organic cider on tap for the traditionalists, bottled beers such as Chimay, Duvel and Paulaner for the sophisticates, a 40-strong wine list for grape fans and even Dom Pérignon at £100 a bottle for the hedonists. The food's not quite up to gastropub standards, but the burgers, fish cakes and suchlike have wide appeal. Soft lighting and a cosy layout of nooks and crannies keep things intimate, and with occasional extras (beer festivals, gigs, sports nights), you've got a deservedly popular local.
