London's best review, food and drink news
Why anyone would choose a boozer based on the presence of a dog is beyond us, but the departure of the landlord's black labrador George has obviously hit the White Horse's drinkers hard. 'Missing George?' queries a blackboard, 'He'll be hanging out in the White Horse's sister pub, the Earl Ferrer in Streatham.' Still, there are more than enough quirky touches to continue to draw a crowd here, with boiled sweets available in tumblers and rotating art exhibitions. The saggy leather sofas, low lighting and candles make this a relaxed lunch destination. In the evening, funk and soul DJs provide a high-octane atmosphere for the ladies loitering on the dancefloor and high-spirited regulars playing pool.
