Aanya Wine Lounge
Inside Aanya, there’s little to suggest its speciality is tapas-style Indian snacks. With red rattan sofas set along cream walls and pebble-dashed panels, the interior is pure chic wine bar, though we were puzzled by some of the decorative flourishes – notably a set of giant test tubes filled with corks. The wine list is a tad under-ambitious, and most offerings are only available by the bottle – though the owners assured us that the by-the-glass count was soon to be upped to 30. Such quibbles aside, the food is good; well-off thirtysomethings happily devoured plates of grilled swordfish, lamb keema biriyani and tandoori prawns. The sleek black slab of a bar sports a respectable selection of spirits and bottled beers (Leffe, Tiger, Peroni, Asahi).
