The multi-faceted Big Chill festival and music bar operation has made an impressive N1 splash a few doors down from the King’s Cross Thameslink station. Easy-to-share dishes, platters, sandwiches and burgers are consumed by a music-savvy daytime crowd, as are Tiger, Budvar and Leffe by the bottle. Wines run from a house Oléa de Comté (£3.25/£12.50) to a £24.50 Sancerre. After dark, cocktails appear, including house varieties by the glass or jug (Big Chill Punch with Finlandia and white peach purée, £6.50/£19.50), accompanying an adventurous live music programme. Above the main bar area is an upstairs bar and terrace.
