Albion
Once a simple local boozer, situated opposite a picturesque square, the Albion was snapped up by new owners last October, and those popping in for a half of Mild and a few games on the Bandit will now be forced to take their business elsewhere. Going straight for the monied Islingtonitejugular, this place is now a posh gastropub with cushy armchairs, pale-green walls and hulking oak tables. The outside seating and delightful beer garden remain, but the drinks menu focuses more heavily on wines and cocktails than the lagers and bitters of yore. Typical British gastro fare adorns the menu, albeit with the curious addition of a whole suckling pig, which must be ordered 48 hours ahead, costs £195 and feeds ten. Yum.
