Harp
Fine ales, award-winning sausages and a genuine Irish atmosphere bring punters to this lovely little pub near Charing Cross. No need for shillelaghs or signposts to Kilkenny, just titular harps in the glazed-window frontage, and a buzz of conversation around the centrepiece bar counter. Talk centres on the day’s racing form; decor is provided by portraits lining the walls of the narrow saloon. And the ales? Harveys Sussex, Best, Timothy Taylor Landlord, St Peter’s Suffolk Gold and the wonderfully named Home Wrecker from the Milestone brewery. O’Hagan’s finest sausages, proudly announced on the board outside, sizzle in a pot on the hob atop the bar counter. Moroccan lamb and Lincolnshire pork and ale were the standouts on our most recent visit.
