The Mitchell Brothers' funky makeover of this formerly traditional boozer - just a gangplank away from another famous ship, the Cutty Sark - has proved a great success. An impressive range of beers (Schneider Weisse, Früli, Budvar, Paulaner, Franziskaner and at least six others) and well-priced selection of wines can be enjoyed in either the split-level back beer garden or the relaxed, multi-spaced interior. The food isn't shabby either, from full breakfasts (£5) through bar snacks (pint of prawns, aïoli, rustic bread) to solid mains such as glazed bacon loin with free-range eggs and chips.
