Anchor & Hope
The Anchor & Hope is a small and honest Fuller’s pub, snuggled in at the bottom of a hill between a housing estate and the River Lea. Inside, there’s hardly room for the large flatscreen TV on one wall, while a portrait of some old bloke and a photo-collage of regulars by the dartboard suggest a committed return clientele. Red-faced fellers discuss the latest Spurs result at the bar; those unafraid of fresh air take in the river from fixed metal bench-and-table sets, painted an incongruous duck-egg blue. On tap you’ll find London Pride, ESB and a guest (Everards Beacon on our most recent visit), plus the usual lagers.
