London's best review, food and drink news
The barmaid rather charmingly refused to make us a martini on our most recent visit to the Florist because she didn't know how - a sign things are now a little less sophisticated than the stained-glass floral motif above the front door of this little corner pub suggests. On a Saturday, the DJ was rocking a young crowd of drinkers with populist beats, and a throat-kickingly good bloody mary (£6) suggested hangovers are regularly created and successfully dealt with on the premises. The taps are fairly unimpressive, but there's Pride, Modelo Especial and Weston's Organic in the fridge and, in case of emergencies, a bottle of absinthe lurks next to the wine. Post-smoking ban, the tiny outdoor shelf seat has been made a little more commodious.
