London's best review, food and drink news
One of a small (five-strong) chain, Eclipse is a quietly groovy little joint, with a recessed fake-coal fire, exposed brick walls, leather banquettes and huge copper-coloured low hanging lamps. Lounge music plays, staff are on the ball and the cocktails are good, and nicely priced at £6. A milano (Hendricks gin and Aperol shaken with lemon juice and fresh raspberries) and a black and blue (fresh blackberries and blueberries crushed with limes and raspberry vodka) went down very nicely, though the latter would be too sweet for some tastes. A list of 25 cocktails includes four non-alcoholic mixes. The only duff note? The ladies loo could do with some TLC.
