Wellington
Located on one of the busiest corners in the area, this big boozer hoovers up passing workers who can’t be bothered hunting out better venues in the backstreets. Its size means it’s large enough to cope with a busy Friday night crowd, crammed into a space that neatly splits into two – the bit below the painting and the bit that’s not. The painting in question is a vast panoramic rendition of the Battle of Waterloo, augmented by old army boots and other military paraphernalia in homage to the eponymous Duke. It’s pearls before swine, though, as the office lads focus on a clutch of games machines, while the ladies enjoy an uninspired selection of Hardy’s wine.
