Stepping over the ‘Saloon Bar’ mosaic at the entrance, you might think this new arrival on the Clapham scene is attempting to preserve the venue’s heritage. You’d be wrong. This place ticks all the boxes for a style bar wannabe, with its swirly gold wallpaper, huge widescreen TVs showing abstract graphics, late licence and Italo-themed bar snack menu emblazoned with the name of an executive chef. There’s a selection of continental lagers on tap (Leffe, Stella, Staropramen and San Miguel), but the main focus is cocktails (from £7), including ‘long-forgotten’ creations of the past.
