  • Although the regularly changing Mediterranean dishes (pancetta and asparagus risotto, sautéed chorizo and tiger prawn salad), put the Fox & Hounds firmly in the gastro bracket, this corner pub has kept the best aspects of the traditional boozer: welcoming staff, a local crowd, a decent selection of beers on tap (London Pride, Theakston Best, Harveys Sussex Best) and an atmosphere conducive to a good, old-fashioned chat. There's also a lovely back garden, draped in greenery and amply furnished with picnic benches and outdoor heaters.
