The vibe here is classic student party, especially when a band bring all their friends ('We're huge in Suffolk!' announced a wispy-haired singer, trying to flog copies of a Kinks-indebted concept album). Graffiti-style wall murals and limited booze options pretty much confirm the feel; there are a lot of taps, but not much on them to get excited about, so spirits prove popular. This is a fine place for some messy fun, though, especially in summer when the large courtyard comes into its own and you can shuttle between bar and outdoor hot pie counter until you're far too late for that gig at 93 Feet East across the road.
