Nueva Costa Dorada

The revamped Costa Dorada is no longer a tiled flophouse for post-midnight fun. A smart lounge area by the bar makes for a pleasant start to the evening or a preamble to a dinner and flamenco show in the adjoining main space. No more crass bullfighting posters; tasteful black and white photographs include an iconic shot of Carmen Sevilla. Staying with the theme, the drinks menu offers Montesquis cava (£4.50/£24), Riojas (£4/£15) red and white, plus bottled San Miguel and Estrella. Of the 13 cocktails (£7), an El Matador of Havana 3 and port seems the most appropriate. No more gloopy albóndigas soup to overheat in the microwave – proper comida (grub to you and me) till the early hours.
