Scuffed leather sofas, faux-Gothic light fittings and dark burgundy walls lend an air of urban trendiness to this traditional corner pub. A correspondingly hip and extensive range of draught beers includes Küppers Kölsch (£3.40) and strawberry Früli (£3.80), while the list of fourscore wines ranges from a South African chenin blanc at £11.10 to St Emilion Grand Cru for £25.20 a bottle. The Drayton really comes to life on weekend evenings when the music is loud and the large windows of the beautiful Victorian frontage get misted up with the breath of twentysomethings in turned-up collars spouting their best chat-up lines. The same crowd returns for the generous, hangover-fixing Sunday roasts and a nice line in warm hair of the dog - Baileys latte, anyone?
