Crobar
Did metal ever go away? Not in the Crobar, an unreconstituted rock bar by Foyles, its bright frontage greeting thirsty punters grateful to pay £4 entry for a late drink, whatever the music. Actually, between Scissorfight, Witchcraft and Twisted Sister, you’ll find Exiles, Jerry Lee and Creedence on the jukebox, and all kinds of gig-goers in this two-room cabin before a nearby show. The drinks list of 20 cocktails and 22 shooters, however, takes no prisoners. Each name might grace a Ramones album: in a serious exercise in one-downmanship, challenge your partner to a Brainstorm of bourbon, dry Vermouth and Benedictine or a Formaldehyde Baby of Baileys and Goldschlager. Jim Beam and JD stand among the bourbons, Red Stripe and Dixie sit in the fridge.
