The Red Lion is a proper local pub with character. It sells up to nine real ales at any one time and also offers live music, quiz nights and beer festivals. A blackboard lists a host of real ales 'coming soon'; on our visit these included Shefford Mild, Atlas Latitude and Dark Side of the Moon. The grand emerald tiled exterior is somewhat at odds with the slightly shabby, white-walled bar that greets you upon entry. Here you can stay and enjoy a retro jukebox, billiards and darts, or go on through to the cosier, quieter lounge bar. The average punter is over 50 and male, but bands and a popular beer garden also draw a younger crowd.
