Defectors Weld
This stylish, modern two-storey pub on the corner of Shepherd’s Bush Green is part of the Lock Tavern family, and like its forebear it gets packed out with a young, lively and down-to-earth crowd. The best seating is at the rear, in an area sectioned off by patterned drapes, with separate booths beneath large, tassled orange lampshades. Stark, arty photographic portraits hang on the walls, among them a knight and disillusioned bear hanging over the disused fireplace. When things get too busy downstairs, head to the snug candlelit bar upstairs; divided into two by large curtains, it is a thoroughly laid-back affair. On tap you’ll find Amstel, Staropramen, Leffe, Franziskaner and Früli; real-ale heads get Greene King IPA and London Pride.
