A tidy gastronomic operation on a quiet corner near Regent's Park. Most of the patrons at this light-flooded, converted Victorian pub come for the food, though the place does also get busy with after-work drinkers during the week. A daily menu of eight starters and eight mains, served in the ground floor bar or the grander first floor dining room, runs the gamut of gastropub favourites from pumpkin soup to pan-fried salmon, and a 20-strong selection of tapas includes many Middle Eastern standards. The 40 wines on the list begin with a basic El Muro from La Mancha (£3.10 for a glass, £12 the bottle) and run up to a Meursault Domaine Michelet burgundy (£45). By contrast, the range of beers on tap is slightly disappointing: there's Löwenbräu, Marston's Pedigree and San Miguel.
