Swag & Tails
Arriving at the Swag & Tails, you’re greeted with an unexpectedly bucolic scene. The pub is hidden away in a veritable warren of quiet streets, picturesque mews cottages and well-kept hanging baskets. Can this really be grimy, grumpy London town? Inside, rustic pine furniture and jovial golfing cartoons on the walls add to the relaxed, rural feel – it’s a home from home for the well-to-do regulars. The usual clientele can probably afford not to baulk at the wine prices (up to £45 a bottle), but the good-quality food is more equitably priced. Adnams, Bitburger, Bombardier and John Smith’s are on tap, lining up alongside Guinness and the ubiquitous array of lagers.
