Mother Bar
Even if you’re not half-cut as you ascend Mother’s narrow staircase, there’s something about the retro-seedy decor and pumping bass that makes you feel like you are. This is the kind of late-night institution that great night-out stories are made of, the type of place where you find yourself dancing to Donna Summer next to Alexander McQueen or swapping trilbies with a Russian exchange student in the toilets. Cocktails are only £4 before 11pm, but if you arrive before then you’ve missed the point entirely. This is an after-party venue par excellence. Whether it’s 2am on a Tuesday or 5am on Saturday morning (you can keep drinking, but have to buy your drinks before 2am), Mother is rammed and loving it. Weekend queues are an endurance.
