Christopher's rightly calls itself the American Bar, not only because the original at the nearby Savoy is closed for refurbishment, but because the quality of its martinis is tremendous. Also known as the Martini Bar, it comprises maroon-striped booths and swivel bar chairs, globe lights and a large black and white portrait of Roger Moore. Classic martinis are mixed from 20 spirits of your choice in three measures, be it an U'Luvka (£11) or a Belvedere (£10); the 20 contemporary varieties (from £7.50) include a Marcotini of Zubrówka, pomegranate juice, lime and amaretto muddled with red pepper. Other cocktails are also classic or contemporary, with a lovely 'Neo Classic' range, all kumquats and lemongrass. Bar snacks include courgette tempura (£3.50) and classic hamburgers (£9).
