Bar Solo
Service is unfailingly friendly, if erratic, at this Spanish bar/restaurant – we were brought bread and olives before our glasses of wine, which were left languishing on the bar for an inordinately long time on a quiet night. Despite its name, this place feels more geared towards diners than drinkers, with a small bar out front and a much larger candlelit restaurant section at the back. The bar area is pleasant enough, with a long leather sofa running the length of the wall, but possibly best for convivial daytime drinking and tapas; of an evening, the strip lighting certainly isn’t conducive to romance. Disappointing too is the fact that just two red and three white wines are offered by the glass (£3-£4.50). Happy hour (5-7pm daily) includes two-for-one deals on a range of cocktails, spirits and bottled beers.
