Anda de Bridge

A haven of Jamaican cool under the railway bridge on Kingsland Road, Anda da Bridge is a bar that should work better than it does. There’s Amstel, Grolsch, Red Stripe and Guinness on tap, bottled Carib lager and a menu of hearty Caribbean meals and snacks (jerk chicken, goat curry, ackee and saltfish). You’ll also find great reggae tracks on the sound system, decent DJs at weekends and enough fairy lights to deck out a small forest of Christmas trees. However, the blandly decorated back room, dodgy photo montages next to the DJ booth and decidedly chilly concrete floors are a let-down during daylight hours. It’s definitely best approached as darkness falls, when the unpretentious vibe works well for drunken revelry and you won’t notice the cracks in the decor.
