Plan B
Turning a Wimpy burger bar into one of London’s most roadblocked DJ bars was never going to be easy, but this space made it look a breeze. Fridays jump to the ‘never knowingly under-souled’ Fidgit, with its international funk and hip hop beats; Saturdays are a mix of house flavours from Norman Jay or the Compact Disco people. Make space in your diary for the Throwdown on the second Thursday of the month: there’s no other B Boy battle quite like it. The ceiling is low (more like a bunker, really), but the venue’s fitted out to a high spec. Also, it’s got bigger: B.Low, the new self-contained extension in the neighbouring basement, also with a late licence, features new nights from Lasermagnetic, the Bloom festival and Patchwork Pirates.
