London's best review, food and drink news

Opposite Paradise (the bar, not some kind of utopian nirvana), on the outer reaches of Notting Hillbilly country is this splash of 1970s kitsch, open fires and battered Chesterfield sofas. An island bar takes centre stage among palm trees, snazzy chandeliers and candelabras, while a mass of body art, piercings and elaborate coiffures nods along to tales of yet-to-take-off media projects.
Greene King and Wadworth 6X ales are a reliable yet hardly revolutionary cask choice, and draught Bulmers over ice scarcely improves things. Organic burgers are the thing here. About a dozen types on the menu and jolly succulent and filling they are, too, although the fact that chips cost extra is just cheeky. The best seats are outside: the semi-covered back garden and patio is a terrific spot for some serious alfresco action when the sun comes out to play.

Bars and clubs have become too sleezy and I have became jaded. or maybe I have became sleezy and club scene jaded. I just don't know! Born in...
This is actually local, and how fortunate I am!
The vibe in here mid week is completely what you want for a drink and bite to eat with friends - quiet(ish),cozy and friendly.
Whenever you go up to the bar to get a drink 3 different people check to make sure you're being served at any point.
I'm not overly keen on the burgers (vegi) but my meateater friends think they're delicious. Good sized portions and quick.
They have a good selection of dishes and a big cheese selection for after dinner nibbles.
Thumbs up.
