London's best review, food and drink news
The Raymond Revue Bar was a 1960s cabaret club, notorious for its striptease shows; it was, if we were to believe a towering sign at the front, 'The World Centre of Erotic Entertainment'. Fast forward to today, and girls are still taking their clothes off, but in the much more middle-class guise of burlesque, at variety nights like Sunday's All That Jazz, or the Hurly Girly Show on the first Saturday of the month. The main room has tiered seating for cabaret-watching, and upstairs is a smaller piano bar. London's drag queen du jour Jodie Harsh hosts the Friday night Circus, and Trannyshack encourages a mostly gay crowd to 'release the woman within' every Wednesday. Go with it - even if you don't, the drag queens most certainly will.
