  • This successful makeover of a notorious late-night dive has positive indications for the area and where it's going. Goldsmiths' students, young professionals and long-term local empty-nesters gather around carefully chosen second-hand furniture to commune over a pint of Grolsch or Heineken, Young's or Timothy Taylor Landlord. Bottled beers include Chimay, Duvel and Budvar. Wine is equally popular and affordably drinkable. A grill in the convivial back room produces burgers and the best Sunday roast around.

    This pub is amazing - big portions of really lovely food at reasonable prices and a friendly atmosphere. They even have a collection of board games (I've played scrabble there on a quiet afternoon with the other half and the bar staff were happy to check their online dictionary to see if words existed!) Did I mention they have strawberry beer on tap? (Fruli.) And there's a screen at the front half with the sofas for when the big footy matches are on, but if you just want to eat quietly you can go to the tables round the back without being disturbed :) A happy mixture of posh student types and local real people! MY FAVOURITE PUB!

    Note to timeout - this pub is not in camberwell, its in new cross. closer to deptford than camberwell!
    its great though, comfy sofas, good food, nice lampshades.
