The Carpenter's Arms sounds like a pub and it looks like one too - a classic old corner boozer sandwiched between some typically delightful west London terraces. It also does a bloody good impression of a restaurant (the enticing English menu is well renowned). Inside, the decor is subtle, with white walls and wooden floors and furniture, though there's also a carefully chosen mishmash of paintings, lights and art objects that put the place squarely in the ever-so-slightly trendy gastropub bracket. The bar, however, is of the proper pub variety, with draught Guinness, Adnams and Addlestones cider (as well as Kronenbourg and Amstel). There's a decent beer garden for summer sessions too.
