London's best review, food and drink news
The Windsor Castle is so cutely historic, with its set of small interconnected rooms, wood panelling and open fires, that it looks more like a film set than the hard-working local it actually is. Given that the pub could get by on looks alone, it's admirable that the food is reasonable (sausage and mash with onion gravy, steak and big chips) and the drinks varied. Ales on tap include London Pride and Timothy Taylor Landlord plus a guest beer; there are lots of lagers, and a better-than-average choice of wines. Clientele are generally as you'd expect given the postcode. One gripe - the loos could do with more care and attention. The final plus: there's a lovely garden too.
