Nearer multicultural Golborne Road than hip Notting Hill (its spiritual home), this Victorian corner boozer is the product of a suitably frayed gastropub conversion: all scuffed wooden flooring and bashed up sofas. Pink wallpaper depicting street muggings leavens an otherwise gloomy interior. Upstairs is a smarter dining room, though the diverting menu (brunch dishes plus the likes of venison and prune stew) can be eaten in the bar - as can posh snacks. Staff might be eccentrically slow, but there's plenty to drink: draught Leffe, Staropramen, Amstel; Addlestones cider and two ales (Greene King IPA and Timothy Taylor Landlord). All of which goes down a treat with the trustifarian, coupley, business clientele.
