Since 1967, Joseph and his lederhosened lads and dirndled lasses have been providing a high-camp version of Austrian hospitality at this basement restaurant. You could easily miss the small street-level doorway, but photographs attest that Hugh Grant, David Walliams, Boris Becker, Elle McPherson and Kate Moss - plus countless stag nights and works parties - have descended those stairs before you. The bar itself is tiny and, disappointingly, has just one beer on tap - Dortmunder Union - although there are a couple of bottled wheat beers. But most people don't come here for the beer or the food; it's the floorshow of yodelling, cowbells and accordion-accompanied singalongs that keep the place packed out.
