More gastropub than proper boozer, the Hill is a hit with a smart NW3 crowd who descend in droves for well-executed, if slightly pricey, food: baby octopus, sirloin steak or sea bass, say. During the day, it's a bright, relaxed place for a glass of wine inside or out; the garden's a real suntrap. By night it's warmly lit and the plush sofas are perfect for cosy drinking sessions - though it has to be said that even with all the standard draught beers at the bar, the Hill is more of a wine-drinkers' hangout. It's certainly never rowdy enough to be on anyone's pub crawl list.

It is defo cosey at night in here. Dark lighting, really lush decoration and seating with chez lounges. Drinks are pricey.
Indication: Enquired about pork scratchings other than the expensive designer crisps, got a reply of "that's the first time I've ever been asked that and I've been here four years." Nice and snooty love it.
Direct contrast to the Steele across the road which is lively, original and full of friendly northern bar maids.
