  • Occupying a large corner site near Great Ormond Street hospital, this is a popular spot for medics seeking to soothe the stresses of their jobs. A recent refurb put mock vintage gilding and aged-looking red pillars under a browny-red ceiling, embossed with period patterns. But why have an old 'Ale & Stout' engraved window when the only ale amid the lagers is Greene King IPA? Fine if you just want to drink, eat (various things, mostly with chips) and forget a hard day; if you want good beer and real atmosphere, the Lamb is a hundred yards away.
