Part bar, part caff, part late-night boozing magnet: everyone round here knows Al's. It's a breakfast-to-bedtime operation, serving a hotchpotch of punters with fry-ups (house variety with cumberland sausage, £6.95), bagel towers (with poached eggs, £6.95), burgers (£7.50), tapas, ciabattas and spot-on pints of golden König Ludwig beer from 10.30am onwards. Also on offer are the likes of Leffe and Hoegaarden, plus bottled Budvar and Warsteiner, flavoured teas (somewhat at odds with the prosaic red and black setting) and cocktails (watermelon collins, passion fruit mojito). Make a beeline for the pavement seating at the first sign of sun.
