This smart gastropub and post-work glughouse has a superior feel about it, thanks to high ceilings, tall house plants and a quality drinks list. Draught beers include Greene King and Budvar, wines a Ropiteau Chablis (£18) and a decent merlot and chardonnay by the glass; malts include the likes of Auchentoshan and Bunnahabhain. Food is similarly a notch above, like house beef burger (£8) with mature cheddar, caramelised red onion and salsa; alternatively, you can wolf down a ciabatta for under a fiver.
