A white indoor paint job in January 2008 has sharpened the contrast with the red banquettes, creating a neat decorative backdrop at this solid-quality gastropub. Draught Hoegaarden and Red Stripe are served from a long bar counter, as are bottled Australian VB and Sol - though the Easton's after-work drinkers are more of a wine-glugging bunch. They have plenty to choose from: Beau Chêne pinot noir, Enate cabernet merlot or Terra Anzica sauvignon blanc, perhaps? All fine potential accompaniments to dishes such as harissa roast organic chicken (£11.50) or pan-fried sea bass fillets with walnut bagna calda (£12.95) from the regularly changing menu. A 'No Dancing' sign offsets mildly erotic images dotted around the expansive room.
