French sisters Vanessa and Sabine ought to be commended for creating this thoroughly professional operation. Gallic in management and sensibility, the SCH has a carefully chosen and thoughtfully priced wine list of nearly 30 types to accompany quality lunch and evening menus, fixed and à la carte. Nearly 20 come by the glass, all in the £3 to £4 range, such as a Les Jamelles viognier and a Château de Carré Beaujolais Villages. Draught beers include Bombardier, Kirin, Wells Eagle, Red Stripe and Erdinger Weissbier, and there's a decent all-day bar menu (Somers Town beef burger with emmental, £8.75). A front terrace, back garden and back room with fireplace complement the spacious front bar and restaurant areas.
