A once-sad Fitzrovia boozer was transformed by the people behind the nearby Crown & Sceptre (see p41) in the spring of 2007. It shares its stablemate's taste for tap beers - Peroni, Belle-Vue Kriek and Franziskaner Weissbier included - with Singha, Pacifico Claro and Chimay Red available by the bottle. All are served from a lengthy bar that divides drinkers from diners, the former sat in a Macmillan-era living room, the latter in comfortable and contemporary surroundings. The Belle Bar upstairs and airy roof terrace offer alternatives to the main bar, though the punters (plenty of media types) tends to huddle outside on the pavement during the busy post-work slot.
