A swift refurbishment in January 2008 has accentuated this corner pub's status as a smart but unpretentious spot for a pint, a natter and a Sunday roast. In Clerkenwell this place would go almost unnoticed; here, amid a Legoland of unappealing housing estates, it's practically miraculous. Früli, Timothy Taylor Landlord, Erdinger, Amstel, Staropramen and London Pride taps line the main bar that occupies one side of a simply furnished room; tables outside offer extra seating on sunnier days. Standard gastropub fare (steamed mussels, prime cheeseburgers with potato wedges) is well put together and fairly priced.

What a great place! The food was absolutely amazing, the music played added to a superb evening in this nice and friendly pub. Slightly hidden, you almost forget you are in Kings Cross.
