  • The sleek, black interior of this swish City bar - all sweeping banquettes, beaded curtains and globe lights - conjures up images of '60s sci-fi classic Barbarella. Fun, frivolity and glamour are firmly on the menu, though there's also John Smith's on tap for when you drag the accounts manager here against his will at Christmas. Cocktails rather than ales are the drink of choice (myriad beers jostle for fridge space) and the cheery bar staff are adept mixers. A big screen pulls in the after-work crowd for key sporting fixtures. It feels somewhat at odds with the slick decor but folds discreetly away into the wall at the end of the match. Groovy, baby.
