From the outside, the Woodman looks like the archetypal neighbourhood local, nestling discreetly in a terraced row on a Battersea estate. On entering you half expect to be greeted by a stunned silence as everyone within looks up at you from their pints. The reality is nothing of the sort - this friendly, down-to-earth boozer is as welcoming to strangers as it is to its regulars. Its generous size is equally unexpected, expanding some considerable way back to the cosy yard at the rear. On offer are ales such as Tanglefoot and Fursty Ferret and lagers from the Hofbräu brewery.

really love this pub. There's always a good, friendly atmosphere, the staff are really helpful the food is much improved and reasonable priced considering portion size. . It's everything you could want from a local.
I was at this pub on Saturday and have to say I totally disagree with the past couple of reviews. The food was good pub grub and the bar service was great. Nice interior, friendly staff and quite a smart place . Also it was really busy compared to the other pubs in battersea. I would be happy to recommed this pub to friends visiting battersea. It was the best one we visited
1 year ago this was my favourite pub in london , in fact anywhere. It had great food , lovely family atmosphere and wonderfull selection of beers.
Since it changed hands it has become like a drinking den for a clientele that leaves much to be desired. The food is truley awful and we have tried it a couple of times to make sure it wasnt a one off.....
please somebody take it over and bring it back to where it once was....
This has been one of my local pubs for the past year, mostly somewhere to pop in for a quick pint or glass of wine, bite to eat or occasionally to watch the rugby.
It's bigger than it looks from the outside and you have a very good chance of getting a seat on a sofa or at a large table. There is a large outdoor area at the very back of the property, this is shaded but lovely in the summer all the same.
Beers are not the usual Young's plus a range of continental lagers but more unusual brands, however you'll be able to find something you like.
The food is okay but nothing special, the menu was better at one time and the quality of the food has gone downhill in recent months, however they have also reduced prices.
There is quiz on a Monday night and they have Sky Sports showing big football matches and international rugby.
Overall, a great pub for a drink, but not a gastropub.
I went for dinner a couple of weekends ago and was served the worst food I've had in a long time. Which is a great shame because I used to love this pub. It seems to have changed hands recently and the decor is looking worse for the new owners, food has gone very downhill and the clientele left a lot to be desired. It was one of my favourite locals but I won't be returning.
Thje Woodman did us proud last November,
for a family event involving around 70 people - we were allowed to choose what food we wanted, staff were courteous and friendly, food was good, and the venue really lovely. We had a separate function using the whole back area from about 2-6pm, then most of us stayed on for the evening! The indoor back area is very comfortable and has a lovely covered outdoor place too.
