• Hole in the Wall

  • Better than an ATM, the HITW is an unreconstructed drinking hole in 'the wall' of the old South Eastern Railway's line into Charing Cross. In a calculated snub to the London & South Western Railway, the viaduct was constructed directly in front of the main entrance to Waterloo station in the 1860s. The windowless brick cavern of the main bar now makes a surprisingly cheery place to enjoy sport on the big screen and a variety of well-kept real ales at sensible prices: Young's Ordinary, Greene King IPA and Abbot, Adnams Best and Broadside as standard, along with a couple of guests such as Hog's Back TEA or Sharp's Doom Bar. Lagers on tap are Leffe, Staropramen and Hoegaarden.
