The Three Stags has been through a turbulent period of late. Following an ill-advised flirtation with admitting diners only, new ownership has seen it recapture its clientele. During the day its location next to the Imperial War Museum attracts a touristy bunch, while evenings see a younger crowd attracted by an impressive range of draught beers including Leffe, Amstel, Hoegaarden, Peroni and Heineken, alongside Greene King IPA, Abbot Ale and Ruddles. 'Chaplin's corner' is a wooden booth homage to Charlie's father, who allegedly drank himself into oblivion here.

I have been to the 3 stags occasionally for the odd pint - no complaints. However today I went for Sunday lunch and had what I thought was a beef roast with yorkshire pudding. The only problem was it was only 2 slices of beef! Paying 13.50 for two slices of beef, vegetables, and a yorkshire pudding is in my mind being ripped off! I would expect at the least a lot more beef than that! I did complain at the end and she said she would mention it to the chef however nothing was done about it! I won't be returning for food there!
From the Imperial War Museum, we wanted to go somewhere nice for lunch but didn't know where. We decided to stop at The Three Stags because there was an outside seating area and it was a beautiful sunny day. Service was excellent - very friendly and efficient. It was lunchtime and the food was very good. Would definitely go there again if in the area and highly recommend it to anyone.
Fantastic food, friendly efficient service. Highly recommended. I have eaten at the Three Stags now on numerous occasions and have been very impressed with what the new ownership has done.
