Just off Camden Market’s main thoroughfare, this Spanish wine bar – full name Bodega de Tapas – has approaching 50 excellent Spanish wines, many of them chosen from the new, emerging wine regions or from top producers. Oddly, the choice of sherries is very limited, though one PX dessert sherry, with its distinctive rum and raisin smell, is available by the glass. There’s a selection of tapas to fill any gaps, but these can be variable; we found the morcilla moist and unctuous, but a bean stew dry and disappointing. The unlikely location, in an area mostly patronised by twentysomethings, may explain the lack of custom on the evening of our visit; but this can be a plus-point if you want the cavernous, two-storey room all to yourselves (that’s if you don’t count the two Spanish waitresses).
