The Albion is less busy on weekday evenings since its gastropub-by-numbers makeover (its beer garden is still the main draw on sunny weekends). It's now all colonial wicker furniture and Bugaboos instead of ramshackle chaos, but the food has improved no end. Well-dressed Highbury mums were enthusiastically tucking into pints of prawns (£9) and roast chicken (£14) on our recent visit. If it's cold outside you'll have to stay indoors with the institutional green paint job and self-consciously mismatched leather armchairs - a pleasant enough spot for a pint. Greene King, Black Sheep and Guinness are on tap, and the wine list is pretty good.

Well. I recently arrived in London chasing a dream. I'm fun, good natured and full of energy. I'm looking for that chemistry that seems hard to...

The manager of the Albion should consider a new career as he is wholly unsuitable for a role in the hospitality industry. We turned up on Sunday with a legitimate, and confirmed, booking, to be told that we could not have as many seats as we had booked. This not only ruined our lunch as we had to eat in shifts, but we treated with condescension and disdain by the manager throughout. We had a wide selection of dishes none of which were memorable; this is no gastro-pub.
Terrible.
We booked two tables for 8 and 6 respectively and then were told that we only had one table, when we had confirmed both bookings separately earlier in the morning in both different names.
After complaining that our group of 14 people would not have enough room to sit at a table of 6, an extra table of 4 was added to a table of 6 so we had to 'rotate' our eating so that all the group could attend.
The food was nothing better than I remember it being as the older pub (19GBP for a very average roast!) and with service and terrible attitude like this I would avoid it strongly.
I was disgusted with the Albion. My son had booked a table for ten for Father's Day for 1.30pm and on arrival was told our booking was for 12.30pm and that they had given our table away. My son was adamant, as was his wife that the booking was for 1.30pm. The Manager was extremely rude, unapologetic, but managed to push a couple of tables together indoors (our table should have been in the garden). We waited at least one hour for our food (more fool us!). The service was dreadful, extremely slow - we had three children with us, who were very bored and hungry. It was a disaster and the food was fairly dismal. You have been warned - give the Albion a miss!!
