A short hike up the road from Kentish Town tube, this place is worth seeking out for its sterling selection of real ales, picked with a keen eye for smaller regional breweries. On our last visit, a Cornish theme prevailed, with the likes of Doom Bar Bitter, Cornish Knocker and Atlantic IPA tempting regulars away from their usual tipples. The dining area takes up the front of the pub, serving classy comfort food (pork chop with bubble and squeak; pan-fried chicken livers on toast; and broad bean, pea and mascarpone risotto) and Sunday lunches, but there's plenty of space for dedicated drinkers: a cosy (but roomy) panelled main bar and a heated conservatory.
