Wreaths of lights in the windows of this imposing former hotel, whose hugely popular beer garden backs right on to Victoria Park, makes an appropriate welcome to the roomy old boozer. A yellowed ceiling is the principal reminder of a rowdier past, with the beautiful Victorian counter serving a more grown-up crowd these days - the jazz sophistication of Kind of Blue is as likely to hit the jukebox as Led Zep. A couple of guests and plenty of Fuller's on the handpumps, plus the same brewer's Honey Dew, Scrumpy Jack and some Czechs on constant pressure, keep beer-drinkers honest, while dissenters get high-end spirits and decent wine. Roasts are a draw here, but there's always something tempting on the menu.

A genuine honest man. 34 and was career focused for a long time, now wanting to settle down. Nice looking and a great body I like different sports...

A great pub, with different atmospheres at different times of the day. A llovely location and a fun and/or relaxing time on every visit.
great location and excellent food sadly offset by the amount of free range children that run around the beer garden, The bar staff are also one of the most sullen, disinterested, resentful bunch around. if serving pints makes them that miserable i suggest alternative careers that involve no public interaction
The food here is so satisfying and well made, you are allways tempted between four dishes on the menu and they have the BEST Sunday roasts in East London here, I kid you not. The juke box mentioned could do with sorting out but overall an absolute winner!
If its good enough for Emma Church birthday its good enough for me. Yippe Iye Aye
Went down here in the summer when it was really packed out in the garden. Had a lovely buzz about the place. Later in the evening I went inside and had some food and it was delicious!
