Bars & Pubs

  • Fox Reformed

  • This cosy bistro has been a fixture on Church Street in one form or another since 1981, along with its proprietors Robbie and Carol Richards. Patrons are ushered in by the elegant fox swinging outside. Within, deep red tones pervade, with corks piled up by the large plate-glass windows. A kitchen dresser and grandfather clock add to the homely feel. The small bar offers one pump (Stella), but the main focus is on a wine list of 30-odd bottles, with a selection available by the glass. Premium bottled lagers (Hoegaarden, Leffe) are also on offer, as are steaks and Tuscany sausages (£10.75). A backgammon tournament and wine club remain popular with the refined, mature crowd of regulars.
